SEATTLE - On June 24th, Seattle saw the highest grossing concert in its history with Kenny Chesney, on tour with several other artists.
"Mobile Billboard Advertising was the only paid advertising we used during the month of May to promote the sold-out concert, which turned out to be the highest grossing concert in Seattle's history," said Kate McMahon, director of Marketing for the Messina Group, the company that promoted the tour.
The concert sold out Qwest Field-all 44,582 of the available tickets for a grand total of $2,893, 955.00. Aside from a Paul McCartney concert, also promoted by West Coast Entertainment Marketing, and two Rolling Stones shows, Chesney's June 24th show is the biggest concert to play that market -- going all the way back to 1980, according to Pollstar, in addition to being the biggest country play in Seattle.
"We'll never forget that night, I swear to God," Chesney said. "That audience was amazing... they just came and they had so much fun. The thing about stadiums - some of those people are so far from you, so you work really hard to reach them. But this was like everybody was right up in my lap.
"I told all the guys, when I'm sitting at home this fall watching a Seahawks game, I'll be able to tell everybody how we made that place rock..." |
